How to install WHMCS
How to Install WHMCS
If you purchased the WHMCS license, we offer free installation for you. WHMCS requires a license key beforehand, and Nabtech supplies WHMCS license keys directly.
Installation Steps
- Login to your cPanel Hosting account. (cPanel is usually located at domain.com:2083)
- Locate and click on the Softaculous application icon.
- You should now see the default Softaculous layout. Go to the E-Commerce Section and select WHMCS.
- Once on the WHMCS overview page, click on the blue Install Now button.
Software Setup
You will be presented with an array of options, which are explained below:
- Choose Installation URL: Select where you would like WHMCS to be installed. We recommend either placing it in a sub-directory like domain.com/whmcs or on a sub-domain like whmcs.domain.com.
- Data Directory: This is where WHMCS stores its files, such as user attachments and logs. This setting can be left on the default provided by Softaculous.
- CRON Job: Leave the Cron Job setting for WHMCS as the default for now. You will configure it later when setting up automation within WHMCS.
Site Settings
- Company Name: The name WHMCS will use for your company in invoices, titles, etc.
- Admin Folder: Your administrator folder location. You can usually leave this as the default, but for added security, you can change it to something unique, which will change your admin login URL to a non-standard one.
- Company Email: The email WHMCS will use as your contact email.
- Valid License Key: Input your WHMCS license key.
Admin Account
- Admin Username: The username you will use to log in to your WHMCS admin area.
- Admin Password: The password for your administrator account.
- First Name: The name that will be set for your administrator account.
- Last Name: The surname that will be set for your administrator account.
- Admin Email: The email attached to your administrator account.
Choose Language
- Select Admin Language: The language of your WHMCS Admin Area.
- Select Site Language: The language of your WHMCS Client Area.
Advanced Settings
Leave these settings as default:
- Database Name: Your WHMCS database's name.
- Disable Update Notifications Emails: Choose if you'd like notifications when an update is available for WHMCS.
- Auto Upgrade: Upgrade WHMCS automatically through Softaculous.
- Backup Location: Location of WHMCS backups within Softaculous.
- Automated Backups: Backup configuration for WHMCS with Softaculous.
- Backup Rotation: Frequency of backups taken.
Once you have configured the installation to your preferences, click on the blue Install button. You can also optionally include your email address for Softaculous to send the new WHMCS login details to once installed.
That's it! WHMCS should now begin to install, which usually takes about 2-4 minutes to complete.
