How to Install Joomla via Softaculous in cPanel
Softaculous makes it easy to install web applications. Please follow the steps below to install Joomla.
- Log in to your cPanel account.
- In the Software section, click on Softaculous Apps Installer.
- cPanel will redirect you to the Softaculous interface.
- On the left side, locate the Portal/CMS category. Click on it, then click on the Joomla link that appears.
- Click on Install.
- Fill in the necessary fields under the Software Setup section:
- Choose Installation URL: Select the appropriate protocol/domain. If you want to install Joomla in a directory (e.g., example.com/directory), enter the directory name in the "In Directory" field. Otherwise, leave it blank to install in your main domain (e.g., example.com).
- Choose the version you want to install: You can leave this as it is.
- Under the Site Settings section, enter the following information:
- Site Name: Enter the name of your website, such as "My First Website".
- Site Description: Enter a description or slogan for your site.
- Under the Admin Account section, enter the following information:
- Admin Username: Choose a new Joomla username (for security reasons, do not use "administrator" or "admin").
- Admin Password: Use a strong password.
- Real Name: Leave this as it is or enter your full name.
- Admin Email: Enter your email address.
Note: Copy the admin username and password to Notepad. You will need these to access the admin area of your Joomla website later.
- Choose Language: Select the language for your Joomla installation. The default language is English.
- Advanced Options: Leave this section as is unless you want to change the database name or set up automated backups. Please note that creating frequent backups may consume a lot of disk space.
Finally, scroll down to the end of the page and click on Install.
